A follow up to fictional accounts of life in Falmouth, Uk in the early 1700's to today's Falmouth, gone are the harsh days of traversing the Atlantic to the Americas for small cargoes . The Oyster dredgers are still around and Gigs which today are for leisure and have become a sport racing them as opposed to large crews rowing away to tow the sailing ships; pre the industrial revolution to the present day high tech revolution. The rough hard days of sailors replaced by one of academics, the ports of the town changing from a merchant sailing and fishing fleet to primarily leisure boats; today the main business is the college, an extension of Exeter University, located at nearby Penryn, the two places join each other and there is no apparent change bar going over a small bridge that crosses the river.
In summer tourists appear and enjoy the sights of the estuaries, rivers and creeks and frequent the more than numerous cafes and restaurants in town, a sharp contrast to the early seventeen hundreds when tourism was yet to happen.
